AUGUSTA - A newly drafted bill in the pine tree state, would make it illegal for minors to use tanning beds.
Senator Geoffrey Gratwick has sponsored the Act to Reduce Youth Cancer Risk. The bill would prohibit anyone under the age of 18 from using tanning beds, regardless of parent permission.
If passed, Maine would be the third state to ban tanning for minors, joining California and Vermont.
The bill could be voted on by the legislature as soon as April.
