Maine Students' Test Scores Flat

Maine's public school students are doing about as well in school as they have in the past.
Scores from the New England Common Assessment Program show 2012 reading and math scores for third- through eighth-graders are essentially the same as in 2011.

Tests given last October show 71-percent of students were proficient in reading, compared to 72-percent in 2011, and 63-percent were proficient in math, compared to 62-percent the year before.

Writing test scores were up, to 51-percent proficiency, a five-point improvement over 2011.
