Glenburn Man Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison
BANGOR - A Glenburn man will be spending his first night in jail this evening after he was sentenced earlier today in Penobscot Judicial Court after pleading guilty to 6 counts of unlawful sexual contact.
A judge ruled 30 year old Daniel Severance of Glenburn to serve 18 months in jail and 12 years of probation. Initially, Severance faced gross sexual assault charges but that was lessened in a plea deal.
The case involves two young girls and the assault occurred between 2009 to 2011. Severance's attorney says plea agreements like this one will be harder to reach due to new state laws that have increased the charges for gross sexual assault.
Severance will also be listed as a registered sex offender for the remainder of his life.
