Governor Plans 100-Million-Dollar Prison
AUGUSTA - As part of Governor LePage's budget, he wants to borrow a hundred-million dollars to build a new prison.
Eight buildings at the Windham Correctional Center would be knocked down to make way for the project.
LePage will not take the prison plan to the voters but instead simply direct the Maine Governmental Facilities Authority to issue a bond.
The bonding would require a two-thirds vote of the legislature.
