Ellsworth Police Officer in Trouble with the Law

HOLDEN - An Ellsworth Police Officer is in trouble with the law after being charged with a domestic violence assault.
Police say 30-year-old Andrew Weatherbee got in a fight with his 32-year-old girlfriend at her home early Sunday morning.  It happened after a text message he had sent, which police say was potentially to another female.

The argument led to Weatherbee pushing and shoving the woman and then holding her down on the sofa and choking her.  Once she was able to  free herself, she called  police.

Weatherbee was then arrested but has since posted bail. The matter is being investigated.  Weatherbee is on administrative leave and is to have no contact with the woman.  He is expected to make his first court appearance on March 14.
