Maine Marathoner Runs To DC For Charity

If Mount Desert Island Marathon founder and president Gary Allen sleeps late in Washington, D.C. this morning, he's earned the rest.
Allen ran the 700 miles from the top of Cadillac Mountain to the nation's capital.  The 56-year-old marathoner started running two weeks ago, to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, the American Cancer Society and families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.  The "Maine Sun Journal" reports that Allen had raised about ten-thousand dollars.
