Ellsworth - Dozens came out for a ribbon cutting at a new cancer care center named in honor of Mary Dow...which has been making life easier for thousands of people in Eastern Maine.
In the last year alone, more than 4,000 patients visited the Mary Dow Center for Cancer Care in Ellsworth...a new addition to the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital that is helping to meet the growing need for treatments.
The center, which opened in December, includes 12 infusion bays, 9 for communal patient experience and 3 for greater patient privacy. Amongst other services, a big amenity is cutting down on travel...especially for those who are used to commuting to Bangor and beyond.
The Mary Dow Center services are extended to those battling cancer, osteoporosis, neurological diseases, and several other illnesses that require specialized treatments.
