Board Backs Ban On BPA In Baby Food Packaging
AUGUSTA - Maine's Board of Environmental Protection is endorsing a ban on the chemical known as BPA in packaging for infant formula and baby food containers.
The board voted unanimously yesterday to support the ban.
Board members say studies have shown that BPA is linked to a number of health problems, including learning disabilities.
The board will formally vote on the ban next week, then it will be up to the legislature to decide whether the ban becomes law in Maine.
