Bill Proposes Job Training For Welfare Recipients

Augusta - Maine House Speaker Mark Eves is pushing for legislation to provide job training for welfare recipients.
The law would direct Maine's health and human services to assess a recipient's skills and determine what they need to find a job.  Eves proposed a similar bill two years ago that won unanimous bi-partisan support, but lost steam after the legislature estimated a cost of 970-thousand dollars for 14 positions.
