Republican State Senator Proposes Income Tax Hike

Augusta - A Republican state senator is proposing to raise the income tax rate for Maine's biggest earners. 
Senator Tom Saviello of Wilton says he's filed legislation to have households with income of more than 250-thousand dollars pay eight-point-five-percent on everything earned above that amount.  As of January 1st, the state's top earners pay seven-point-nine-five-percent on income above 250-thousand dollars.  Saviello says that, in light of the state's financial difficulties, Maine's top wage earners should pay more.
