Marines Catch Up With Transgendered Deserter

POLAND - Thirty-one years and a sex-change later, the past has caught up with an Androscoggin County woman.

57-year-old Elizabeth Tremblay went AWOL from a Marine Corp base in Southern California three decades ago.

That's back when she was known as Donald.

She was arrested at her mobile home in the town of Poland and is awaiting word on whether she'll be court martialed for desertion.

It's unclear why it took the Marines three decades to catch up with her.
