Toronto - The new general manager of the National Hockey League's Toronto Maple Leafs is a former star at the University of Maine.
The Leafs named Dave Nonis as the new GM yesterday.  Nonis captained the Black Bears for two seasons before graduating in 1988.  Before his promotion he was Toronto's senior vice president of hockey operations.  Nonis succeeds Brian Burke, who was fired as team president and general manager.
