Maine Poet to be Featured at President's Inauguration

Bethel - As the First Family is preparing for another Inaugural Ball at the end of this month, President Obama has selected a Mainer to contribute his work at the event.
The White House has announced that poet Richard Blanco, of Bethel, will be featured at Barack Obama's 2013 Inauguration.
George Kinghorn, director and curator at The University of Maine Museum of Art, is a personal friend of Blanco and says it's an honor to the poet, to Maine, and to the entire nation.

As only the fifth Inaugural poet in U.S. history, Blanco is also the first Latino and gay poet, to be named with such distinction.  He follows in the footsteps of other greats including Robert Frost and Maya Angelou.
