BANGOR - All aboard! it's National Train Day.
Started by Amtrak six years ago, it's about educating the public on the advantages of railways and the history of trains in the United States.
Representatives from organizations such as Operation Lifesaver and the Downeast Scenic Railroad were at the Airport Mall today, providing information on local rails as well as safety around the tracks.
National Train Day is held every year on the Saturday closest to May 10th, which is the anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in the United States.
