BANGOR - A local media store in Bangor was the place to be Friday afternoon for rock music fans, as multi-platinum award winner Seether was there signing autographs gearing up for the big Rise Above Fest Saturday, all in an effort to promote the message behind the concert.

Hundreds of pictures snapped Friday as Seether stopped by Bullmoose to promote the Rise Above Fest, giving fans a memorable experience.

"It's great to meet people you admire, for their music or art," Freeman Saunders, manager at Bullmoose, says. "These guys love their work, love their fans."

"I've heard a lot of stories about people not being so nice when signing autographs all day," Caarie, of Levant, says. "But they were super nice."

Though this is the second annual Rise Above Fest here in Bangor, it's the band's first time in the Queen City, here to spread a message.

"We're working with an organization called SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) to create awareness and educate people about the epidemic of suicide," John Humphrey, drums in Seether, says.

"It's unique for a rock band like this to having a message to help prevent suicide," Ryan Pickoski, of Brewer, says. "It's rare. It's something I've never seen before... a really good cause."

The band has personally been affected by tragedy. Shaun Morgan, the lead singer, lost his brother to the epidemic.

"It's about being positive in the face of adversity," Morgan says. "So we took that theme and applied it to this festival hoping to make a difference. We want to keep raising awareness, keep raising money, and keep bringing good times to Bangor."

"To bring awareness and help people who might see the symptoms in their family," Saunders says. "I think it's very positive, and awareness is the biggest thing."

Helping to raise money for the campaign, a one-of-a-kind custom poker table, valued at $60,000 that will be raffled off during the show.

But for fans, the prize was meeting these guys in person.

"It's pretty cool that I met the guys that I have heard on the radio," a fan says. "Yeah it's really exciting," another adds.
