Head Shaving for Pediatric Cancer Research

ORONO - Dozens of people were all getting the same hair cut today, shaving their heads to raise money for children's cancer research.

Short hair or long, it didn't matter at the University of Maine. Instead hundreds of people were shaving their heads, hoping to inspire others to support the fight against pediatric cancer.

Thousands gathered in the Steam Plant parking lot to celebrate Maine Day, a day of service for the University. As students, and even faculty, let go of their locks.

The St. Baldrick's event can be an emotional day. Bringing back memories and serving as a reminder of what's important.

The campus exceeded it's goal, raising over $13,000.
