Bangor Hosts Medical Marijuana Trade Show

BANGOR - Home Grown Maine is in its third year and focuses on caregivers and patients using medical marijuana.

Many waited in line to get through the doors, where numerous venders were present with items ranging from smoking devices, to soaps made from marijuana seed oil and even marijuana candy.

In her first time setting up a table, vendor, Lindsay Dow says she was a bit skeptical.

“I was a little nervous, I didn't really know what to expect but we're having a really great turnout, everybody seems very excited about it, about being here about learning something new,” says Dow.

The event is held not only to give patients and caregiver’s information, but also people who are unsure of the drug.

“If you don't know all of the different benefits to something, then you may be a little unsure of where you stand on it, but I think events like this really help to clarify for people,” says Dow.

Patient Lou-Ann Agnelli says medical use is harmless and safer than other options.

“I’d rather see myself and other patients use cannabis rather than hard drugs,” says Agnelli.

Opponents say pot is often a gateway to those harder drugs. Proponents say it has a long list of benefits.

“I think it's important that people know that medical marijuana is here to stay and if people understand the medicinal purposes, I think they feel a lot better about this whole movement,” says Agnelli.

The show was held only one day and was open to the public, including non-medical patients.
