CORINTH - We first brought you the story of an infant suffering from DiGeorge syndrome back in January, Fiday that family's fellow co-workers decided to lend a helping hand.
The staff at Whitney's Family Supermarket in Corinth held a fundraiser to support little Eli.
He suffers from a disorder caused by the deletion of a small piece of chromosome 22.
Friday Eli underwent open heart surgery, the family's co-workers are hoping to help while raising awareness.
"The community pulled together because this started off with just t-shirts, but then came the snowball effect," Lori Sheldon, a coworker of Eli's father, says. "We ended up having a hamburger stand. The community came in and started donating things. It's been just tremendous."
All proceeds from the benefit will go towards the medical expenses the family faces.
