MOUNT DESERT ISLAND - Spring is bringing the life back to one of Maine's coastal gems. And after a shortened season last year, Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are gearing up for a busy year ahead.
The views may be bleak in color, but they aren't lacking their luster. Acadia National Park will once again reopen Park Loop Road on Tuesday, bringing the bustle of the tourist season back to MDI.
Chief Ranger Stuart West says the road to Cadillac Mountain and the Carriage Roads may open a bit later, due to melting snow. But officials are expecting a big season for the park, which saw the effects of last year's government shut down and the previous year's sequestration. Which took it's turn on downtown businesses as well, whose owners are anxious to get started and have high hopes for success.
