Early Flu Season Filling Maine ERs, Clinics

Brewer - Maine's flu season is hitting earlier than usual this winter, and emergency rooms and walk-in clinics are filling up.
About 120 patients a day were coughing and sneezing their way into The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle last week.  All those sick people forced the hospital to delay outpatient surgeries for several hours so surgical staff could help treat patients on December 28th.  Extra staff were called in to Brewer's Penobscot Community Health Care's walk-in clinic to treat patients last Saturday.  Health care providers are urging people to visit doctor's offices, hospital, clinics and pharmacies so they can get vaccinated.
