Seven Car Burglaries in Skowhegan Over Weekend

SKOWHEGAN - Police are asking for the public's help in finding those responsible for seven vehicle burglaries over the weekend in Skowhegan.

Officials say the cars involved were parked in the area of North Avenue, spanning from Maple Street to Dr. Mann Road.

Money, GPS devices and other electronics were among the items reported stolen from the unlocked vehicles.

Last week in Madison at least nine cars were broken into and two cars stolen.

"We believe that it's the same people since it's been over the course of a few days," Chief Ted Blais, of Skowhegan Police Department, says. "We haven't had that many car breaks in a while, and to have two that are within five or ten miles of each other is uncommon."

Chief Blais is asking anyone with information to call the Skowhegan Police Department at 474-6908, or the Madison Police Department at 696-5373.

He also minds owners to keep your car doors locked.
