BROOKSVILLE - A Penobscot man is facing criminal charges after police say he broke into a Brooksville home, stole a car, crashed it nearby, and then returned to the house and passed out.
Michael Darragh, 42, was arrested early Sunday morning after the Hancock County Sheriff's Department was called to investigate suspicious activity at the property.
Officials say Darragh had been dropped off Saturday night to dig for clams on nearby mudflats.
It was then, that he allegedly broke into the home, stole rugs and blankets, then drove off in a 1992 BMW that was in the garage.
Officials say the car hit a patch of ice, slid off the road into the underbrush, and got stuck.
Darragh then reportedly went back to the home, and passed out.
Police say Darragh had been drinking before the incident.
