Relay for Life Announces Honorary Chair

BREWER - Relay for Life has announced its honorary chair for this year's event weekend.

12 year-old Jessica Sargent will serve as the honorary chair for American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Penobscot County.

Her father, Mike Openshaw, was last year's chair.

He is currently fighting a rare form of cancer. Sargent says she is very excited to pick-up where her dad left off.

This weekend will be Sargent’s 13th birthday, and to celebrate they are hosting a benefit dinner at Oriental Jade.

This year's Relay for Life will be held at Morse Field at the University of Maine on May 16 and 17th.
