AUGUSTA - The Maine Senate has voted to expand Medicaid in the state.
In a 22-13 vote this afternoon, the Senate passed a measure to accept federal funds to provide healthcare to 70-thousand Mainers.
The bill would allow three years of funding by the federal government and the proposal will also create a plan to lower program costs.
The bill did not receive two-thirds vote in the Senate today and will be sent to the House for further consideration.
Governor Paul LePage is expected to veto this bill citing millions of dollars in additional costs for the state.
