OLD TOWN - Officials are trying to locate one tenant of an apartment building in Old Town to make him aware of a fire at his residence last night.
It happened just before 10 p.m. The fire was called in at 18 Chapman Street.
Incoming crews were informed that first floor residents safely evacuated, but it was unknown if the tenant on the second floor had escaped.
Upon arrival, heavy flames were showing from the back side of the second floor.
After entering the front door crews had the fire knocked down in about ten minutes.
“As far as the second floor tenant, he was home earlier and we are trying to make contact with him. Old Town Police and other area police have an attempt to locate on his vehicle so they can get his vehicle stopped and make him aware of the situation,” says Captain Matt Redding of the Old Town Fire Department.
The second floor is heavily damaged by fire, and the first floor suffered smoke and water damage.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting Old Town Investigators to determine a cause.
