In-State Tuition Approved for Current, Former Armed Service Members at UMaine System

BANGOR - Starting in May, all veterans and members of the armed forces will see a sizable discount on tuition at University of Maine campuses.

A new policy approved Friday will charge in-state tuition rates to all current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The University of Maine System says they are the first institution in the northeast to provide this benefit.

The new policy applies to all University of Maine campuses and online courses.

20 other states have similar programs. Maine currently has over 130,000 military service members.
