ORONO - Though the trek is four months away, area cyclists turned out to a pub in Orono for a 'Beer & Bikes' gathering.
It's part of a series of events happening statewide to help spark the fire for the Trek Across Maine ride that happens every summer.
Now in its 30th year, this is the largest fundraiser for the American Lung Association of the Northeast.
Thursday night, Team USA from Bangor was in the house getting ready for the excitement of the annual trek.
"It's a way to get out and meet people," Kathryn Libby, development director for Maine - American Lung Association, says. "You can meet the trekkers, volunteers, and come together during the off season. It's a lot of fun."
"You get to see the camaraderie of the team, look forward to enjoying the trek route, and more," John Poirier, team captain for Team USA of Union Street Athletics, says. "The American Lung Association is a really great organization and we're really passionate to be able to participate in the trek for this good cause."
