ORONO - Water quality was behind a town hall style meeting at Orono High School Tuesday night.
The Orono-Veazie Water District held a community conversation after water samplings came back with high levels of trihalomethanes.
The Environmental Protection Agency allows for 80 parts per billion of THMs. The latest test shows THM levels at 76 parts per billions in the Orono-Veazie district.
Tuesday night, a panel listened to frustrated citizens. Members of the panel say they are already taking measures to lower THM levels in the short and long run. One is to flush the pipe system more often.
Another is to find an additional water source.
In the meantime, Orono-Veazie Water District and the panel say the water is considered safe.
