Oxford County Meth Lab Bust

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) has found evidence of two methamphetamine labs in Oxford County this morning following a series of police raids. Drugs agents, along with State Police and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, served search warrants at five houses in Oxford, Greenwood, Albany, Mason Township and Gilead this morning. In addition, they plan to search a pickup truck found in the parking lot near the Flagship Cinema, along Route 26 in Oxford.

MDEA say they found evidence of meth labs in the pickup truck, and the house in Gilead. Five people are being detained and questioned. At this point – no one has been arrested.

The process of producing methamphetamine can be highly explosive. MDEA’s meth lab team will conduct the searches throughout the day. The team will be in protective suits with ventilation gear, and local fire departments on standby . The Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the federal DEA also are taking part. Last year 20 meth labs were discovered in Maine, an all-time record.

More info is likely later in the afternoon after the searches have been completed.
