BANGOR - Stephen Colvin, 21, of New York, tragically lost his life Tuesday on the slopes at Sugarloaf.
He was a student at Husson University, while also playing linebacker for the Eagles football team.
He was skiing with three other men, including teammates, on the Hayburner trail when he crashed into the woods.
CPR was performed while Colvin was transported to the resorts clinic, but he couldn't be revived.
The coaching staff and entire Husson community now grieving the loss of one of their own.
Athletic Director Frank Pergolizzi, says he's unsure how his teammates will handle the loss, "You take it one day at a time and try to move forward," he says. "I personally didn't know Stephen very well, but it's clear from watching how the player reacted, that he was a young man really loved by his teammates, and the coaching staff. We're all deeply saddened."
Pergolizzi went on to say that he expects something will be done to remember Colvin in the near future, and that counseling will be on hand for those that need to talk about the death.
