Doctor Leaves Loaded Gun In L.L. Bean Bathroom

Ellsworth - A 72-year-old doctor from Winter Harbor faces reckless conduct charges after
allegedly leaving a loaded pistol in the men's room of the Ellsworth L.L. Bean. 
Benjamin Newman told police he took the semiautomatic police pistol out of its
holster while he used the bathroom then forgot about the weapon. By the time he
called L.L. Bean to retrieve his gun it had already been turned over to police. 
Newman is a retired Navy Captain who currently serves as doctor for the
Washington County Jail.
