ORONO - It was a packed rink at Alfond Arena Sunday, but it wasn't because of a hockey game.
The Friends of Maine Hockey held it's annual 'Skate with the Bears' Sunday afternoon.
Young and old laced up the skates and hit the ice.
Those who attended were able to get autographs from the players, take pictures and more.
"I think it's really great to get their faces out there," Stephanie Sears, a freshman, says. "I think having open skate will also help with recruitment later on, because it shows community involvement."
"They show that they appreciate their fan base, and even after last night's game they still came out here to see everyone," Valentina Alayon, another freshman, adds.
Coming off a huge win against conference rival, the University of New Hampshire, the team still had practice Sunday, allowing the public to watch as well.
