ORONO - The University of Maine is offering free tax preparation, on campus and at the Orono Public Library.
It's a program that started over 20 years ago.
Business school students, under the direction of accounting professor Steve Colburn, will be available to assist most Thursdays and Fridays, from January 31 through April 11.
"People should bring their tax forms, their tax information with them. If they have wages they should have a W2 form," explains Colburn, "If they get pension or social security income they should bring that documentation with them also."
Those with incomes under $58,000 can also file for free at myfreetaxes.com.
To make an appointment with Professor Colburn and his team, call (207) 581-1982 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
