Safety Officials Warn of Possible Power Outages

BANGOR - With the possibility of an ice storm this weekend, officials are urging Mainers to prepare for power outages.

Bangor fire officials say plan for the worst and avoid downed power lines. Officials say if you do need to use a generator, be sure to run it in a well-ventilated space outdoors, where fumes cannot vent inside.

Officials also say you shouldn't use a gas range or oven to heat your home, and do not use a charcoal grill, lantern or portable camping stove inside.

Check emergency supplies including batteries, food and water, using flashlights or electric lanterns rather than candles.
