Fire Destroys Home

CHARLESTON - A fire has destroyed much of a single family home.

Crews turning out to the Akinson Road at around 3:30 this afternoon.

Fortunately, no one was home.

Pets were temporarily trapped but were succesfully freed by firefighters.

Crews from surrounding areas, Corinth, Dover and Garland, provided support amid a low water supply.

It's unknown at this point what, if anything, can be salvaged.

"It appears to be quite a loss. I'm not sure what is salvageable right now but we've done the best we could to cover up anything that's still untouched by the fire and perserve any sort of evidence for the fire marshal," says Charleston firefighter Brandon Croan.

Of course investigators will now attempt to pin down a cause.
