HERMON - As the hunt continues for the person responsible for shooting a bald eagle in Hermon last week, authorities have upped the reward.
The Penobscot Nation has doubled the reward to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Over the weekend the group's leader, John Banks, contacted the Warden Service offering to increase the reward out of great concern for the species.
The bald eagle was found with gunshot wounds in the area of Hermon pond and the Souadabscook Stream last week. It had to be euthanized.
