BANGOR - Get your young scientists ready! The Challenger Learning Center is looking to introduce students to engineering.
Challenger is teaming up with UMaine's Society of Women Engineers to create a mentoring program for interested eighth graders.
The program is designed to get students to think about engineering as a possible career.
"We're looking at this as a way to get students who may have never considered engineering, to find those who have a spark of interest, and see if we can show them what engineering is like," explains Jennifer Therrien, the Education Director at the Challenger Learning Center.
The program is free of charge because of a grant from National Girls Collaborative.
Interested students can submit the application found on www.astronaut.org.
