The Family Fun Bowling Center in Bangor hosted a fundraiser, in an effort to raise money for Christine Johnson, the only survivor in last month's fatal Orrington house fire. Hundreds of people showed up to today's event.
Last month, Ben and his three children, ages 9, 8, and 4, were killed in a house fire sparked by cardboard boxes too close to a wood stove. Today, friends, family and community members, took to the lanes raising money for Christine Johnson, wife and mother, and the sole survivor in the devastating blaze.
"Due to the tragic events, you know, she's lost everything, and maybe this is an opportunity to give her a start at something, it doesn't replace anything, but its 100 percent going to her," says Mike Marsh, a friend, and organizer for today's event.
Bowlers all across the state made their way to Bangor to show their support for the Johnson family, and honor an integral member of the bowling community.
Within one hour of posting the event on facebook, a hundred people had RSVP'd. In fact, they had to extend the fundraiser three additional hours to accommodate for the large turnout.
If you would like to make a donation to the family's trust fund can do so through the Johnson Family Fund, care of Seaboard Credit Union, P.O. Box G, Bucksport 04416.
