BANGOR - A Vermont caseworker has been indicted for a felony sex crime involving a Bangor girl.
26 year-old Jeffrey Parfitt of Middlebury, Vermont is charged with sexual contact -- stemming from an alleged incident during a visit with a young girl living in Bangor.
Police say a parent called to tell them the caseworker performed an unnecessary and inappropriate examination of the child after asking the father to leave the residence to allow for privacy.
Police say he has yet to turn himself into authorities.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of the State of Vermont Department for Children and Families released this statement:
“The Vermont Department for Children & Families has placed Mr. Parfitt on administrative leave; collaborated with the Bangor police on necessary investigations; and reviewed the safety of children and youth Mr. Parfitt had contact with as part of his official duties.”
