BANGOR - Three major musical artists are heading to the Bangor waterfront this Labor Day weekend. With one show already sold out, the region is expecting a weekend of booming business.
It's slim pickings at the Fireside Inn & Suites, as Labor Day weekend vacancies fill up fast.
"It's the kind of crazy you like," says John Marko, Manager of the Fireside Inn & Suites, "We're full, we're busy, the staff's going crazy, but we keep up, and we make money."
Marko says the waterfront concert series has been great for business, and this weekend is no exception. On Saturday, all 51 rooms are sold out.
"We have about 3 rooms left on Friday, but after hearing this on TV tonight, we may sell the rest of them tonight."
The weekend concert stretch begins with a fierce performance by Ke$ha on Friday, followed by a sold out Luke Bryan show on Saturday, and wrapping up with Toby Keith on Monday.
By the time the glitter settles, and the red solo cups are empty, the city of Bangor won't want this weekend to end.
"Twenty-four hundred rooms, times an average rate of a hundred to a hundred and twenty-five dollars- which I think is low on concert nights, there's some economic impact on just hotels," says Kerrie Tripp of the Greater Bangor Conventions & Visitors Bureau.
