Colson is a Bangor native and has been covering the news in the Bangor market since 1985.
He began his career as a news photographer at another local TV station and worked his way up through the ranks as a reporter and news anchor.
"This is truly an exciting time at WVII", says Colson. "The station is clearly committed to delivering the best quality news and is making investments that will make its broadcasts better than ever".
"We are very excited about Colson, and look forward to working with him," says Mike Palmer, the WVII/WFVX General Manager.
Colson has most recently been reporting the news as News director for four local radio stations owned by Townsquare media in Brewer, and is excited to take the next step in his career.
"I love Maine and the people of Maine," said Colson. "I can't tell you how excited I am to return to the anchor desk to share their stories".
Reporting the news is truly a family affair for Colson.
He grew up around the industry and worked for many years along side his father, Don Colson who was also a news director and anchor at a local station.
Colson's brother, Matthew is also a veteran news photographer who began his career in Bangor and now works for WBZ in Boston.
Colson continued to say, "[he] looks forward to working with an energetic group of talented reporters and doing what I've done for years, that's delivering the most factual and balanced news possible."
His official start date will be December 26.
