But Partridge, didn't get far. A state trooper tracked down Partridge's pickup and arrested him on Route 8 in Smithfield. Meanwhile, Justin Smith would die of his injuries at Maine General Hospital.
Today, Partridge made his first appearance in Waterville, before district court Judge Robert Mullen. Mullen ordered him held without bail at the Kennebec County Jail.
At this point, authorities say it appears Partridge and Smith were total strangers.
