STOCKTON SPRINGS - After six years of fundraising and nine months of waiting, work continued Wednesdayto give an historic area church a much needed facelift.
However, according to the folks from the Stockton Springs Community Church, there's still a long ways to go.
For six years, congregants have raised money to replace an over 150-year-old steeple. The steeple's base piece was moved into position in 2012. On Wednesday, came the ornate and bell sections. The day's celebration was a welcome one, after vandals defaced the building with swastikas last fall.
The Stockton Springs Community Church still needs to raise $22,000 to add that spire and wrap up the project.
