Middle Schoolers Participate in Transportation Camp

OLD TOWN - Middle school students from the Bangor area who have been learning about transportation and design this summer took a special field trip today.

Students attending the sixth annual Maine Summer Transportation Institute at UMaine were at the Forest Bioproducts Research Institute today in Old Town. There, they were involved in several hands-on experiments,  including how biofuel, or oil, is made from wood.

Students involved in the two-week camp, which is funded by a grant from the Federal Highway Administration, learn about highway design and safety, alternative fuels and construction materials.
