Councilors Discuss Education Funding with Governor's Advisor

BANGOR - Bangor City Councilors met with one of the Governor's advisors this afternoon to discuss the future of public education.

Councilors met with Jonathan Nass, a Senior Policy Advisor of Governor Paul LePage to explain their opposition to charter schools.  Bangor currently has a moratorium on having a charter school come to the city, and councilors have a proposal to reform the law that would take money away from public schools.

The council hopes to continue conversations with the governor as well as extend the moratorium, in an aim to protect several city departments from major tax cuts.
