Rockland - The Rockland city council has done something one of the members wanted to do.
The council voted Monday night to eliminate three city jobs and make two other positions part-time in order to balance the budget. The council cut an emergency medical technician post and the public public works department secretary's job, sending two city workers to the unemployment line. The council also cut a vacant police officer position and reduced the assistant to the city manager and general assistance administrator to part-time status. The cuts take effect immediately so the city can offset the loss of 280-thousand dollars in state revenue-sharing money.
