CALAIS (from state police) - One man is dead and a woman and a baby were wounded in a domestic violence shooting in Calais tonight. The shooting took place at a home on Main Street about 6 pm.
The dead man was shot and killed by Calais Police shortly after officers arrived at the home.
The man is the father of the child. The woman and her baby , reportedly were both shot by the man, and are now being treated for gunshot wounds, as is a Calais police officer who was also wounded in the incident.
The woman is undergoing treatment for serious gunshot wounds at Eastern Maine Medical center in Bangor . Both the baby and the Calais police officer were grazed by bullets and both are expected to make full recoveries. They are being treated at the Calais hospital.
Dead is 26 year old Daniel Pinney of Calais.
The wounded woman is 21 year old Megan Sherrard from Calais and her six week old baby girl, Luca. The wounded officer is John Preston.
Because of the officer involved shooting, the Maine Attorney General’s Office has sent a team of its investigators to Calais to investigate that aspect of the incident.
State Police have also sent a team of detectives to the scene to investigate the shooting of the woman and baby.

Raised in Arlington, Mass., Lindsey graduated from Endicott College located in Beverly, Mass. where she majored in Communication. While attending college on the North Shore Lindsey ran the campus newspaper, the Endicott Observer, lead the Endicott Gulls field hockey team as Captain in the 2009 & 2010 seasons, and played for the women’s club hockey team.
For two years Lindsey worked at WCVB Channel 5 News Boston as an ENG producer and writer, while also filling in for various positions in
Chronicle, the station’s nightly news magazine. Additionally, Lindsey contributed to the production of two MDA Labor Day telethons.
When she’s not in the field she can be found on the ice. Lindsey helps out with Brewer’s Youth Hockey Learn to Skate & Learn to Play program and plays on a men’s league team. She also helped to establish Brewer’s first youth under-12 girl’s hockey team.
