BANGOR -- A Central Maine karate instructor, who admitted to producing and possessing child pornography, is slated to spend decades behind bars.
U.S. District Court Chief Judge John Woodcock, Jr. sentenced 34-year-old Wade Robert Hoover of Augusta, Tuesday, to a total of 40 years in prison.
Hoover owned a karate studio in Lewiston.
He pleaded guilty in February to taking sexually explicit photos of two male students under the age of 12.
The boys were reported to be unconscious at the time.
Hoover had also worked at the Maine Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Augusta.
He stands indicted in Somerset and Kennebec counties for sexually assaulting the same two boys.
Hoover has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Judge Woodcock also ordered Hoover to pay $5,000 in restitution, Tuesday.
