Governor Receives Recommendation to cut Spending by $35 Million

AUGUSTA - Administrative and Financial Services Commissioner Sawin Millett is recommending state agencies cut spending by more than $ 35 million due to a drop in anticipated revenue for the current fiscal year.

In a letter to Governor LePage and legislative leaders, Millet says spending cuts should be implemented as soon as possible in order to keep the budget balanced.

A spokeswoman for Governor LePage says cuts are likely, but he is reviewing the recommendation, which came this afternoon.
