ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO - James Cameron, Maine's former top drug prosecutor, who had been on the run from authorities since mid-November, made his first court appearance today, since U.S. marshals captured him in New Mexico Sunday.
Maine's U.S. Attorney says Cameron stood before a federal magistrate in Albuquerque...a day after U.S. marshals arrested him outside a retail electronics store. He surrendered without incident.
Cameron initially fled on November 14th, after removing a court-ordered monitoring device, while on release pending appeal of a child porn conviction.
Meanwhile, marshals are preparing to transport Cameron back to Maine, where he is scheduled to appear before a federal judge in Bangor. That's when his bail will likely be revoked.
